Minneapolis
- Firefighters extinguished an early morning roof fire at Jakeeno's Pizza and Pasta in South Minneapolis on Saturday. Crews responded around 6:45 a.m., and while no injuries were reported, the restaurant remains closed until further notice.
- Minneapolis Police are searching for suspects following a chaotic auto theft where a pickup and an attached food trailer were stolen with three people still inside the trailer. Two individuals sustained injuries after jumping from the moving trailer as the suspects fled the scene.
- The 87th Minneapolis Aquatennial is set to return July 18-26, bringing nine days of free, family-friendly summer celebrations to the city. Next week also brings the return of the Minnehaha Falls Art Fair, featuring hundreds of artists and new visitor features.
St. Paul
- Public safety officials are asking for the public's help locating two missing children: 10-year-old Kevin, last seen early Saturday near the 1400 block of Hazel Street North, and 16-year-old Diana Salas, last seen around 5 p.m. on July 11 on the 900 block of Felix Street in West St. Paul.
- St. Paul Police are investigating a pair of violent weekend incidents. A man was injured in a Saturday night stabbing with no arrests yet made, and a woman is recovering after being dropped off at a hospital around 12:40 a.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound sustained on Jackson Street.
- Over in Eagan, a U.S. Postal Service maintenance technician was reportedly removed from the St. Paul Processing and Distribution Center by police after demanding the cleanup of human feces at the facility.
Local Sports
- The Minnesota Twins wrapped up the first half of the season on a high note, beating the Los Angeles Angels 4-2 on Sunday. Trevor Larnach homered and drove in two runs, helping the club head into the All-Star break having won eight of their last nine series.
- In MLB Draft news, the Twins selected Georgia Tech catcher Vahn Lackey with the No. 3 overall pick on Saturday, adding one of the draft's top college hitters and defensive catchers to the farm system.
