Looking ahead, the city of Minneapolis is preparing major changes to reshape and reenvision George Floyd Square for its next chapter.

Community advocates are pushing for a safe summer following a violent few days in the city that left several people shot and two dead. Overnight, a man was found shot to death near Columbus Avenue South and East 42nd Street, while another man was seriously injured early Sunday afternoon after a fight escalated into a stabbing near Tenth Avenue South and East 26th Street.

Emergency responders conducted a search at Lake Nokomis on Monday evening after a lifeguard reported seeing a child go underwater. In local healthcare news, a new bailout for HCMC is offering a life raft for a critical physician training program, a move welcomed by staff like Dr. Allyson Brotherson, chair of the family medicine program at the Whittier Clinic.

St. Paul

Law enforcement is investigating a homicide in St. Paul after a passerby reported finding a man dead between railroad tracks. Police were called to the 1400 block of Case Avenue, located a few blocks from Johnson Parkway, just before 11 a.m. on Monday.
